COUMBIS SORRA

Coumbis SORRA, author, composer and performer, is herredora of a family griot from the southern region of Senegal, the Casamance. His entire childhood was cradled by traditional Mandinka music and his father's eclectic musical tastes.

Combining passion, sensuality and simplicity, she has developed her own musical and vocal style over the years and has a proven track record on stage. Nicknamed the "Queen of live music", Coumbis Sorra becomes a leading artist of a young generation of Senegalese artists full of talent and ambition.

Her committed lyrics denounce strong topics such as female circumcision and the conditions of women in Africa, whom she urges to emancipate themselves, being herself a symbol of empowerment for all women in sub-Saharan Africa. His music is an escape between the harsh African reality and the green and luminous landscapes of his Casamance native to the rhythm of Mandingo, blues and, of course, mbalakh traditional Senegalese.
